Anne Dempster - Playgroup Manager
Anne joined Kilmood Playgroup as a playgroup assistant in 1985 and became leader-in-charge in 1991. Anne has NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education
Heather Johnston - Assistant Playgroup Leader
Heather joined the Playgroup as a playgroup assistant in 1992 and became Deputy leader in 1994. Heather has NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education.
Julie Gibson - Playgroup Assistant
Julie joined the Playgroup in 1994 as a playgroup assistant. Julie has NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education.
Elizabeth Gibson - Playgroup Assistant
Elizabeth joined the Playgroup as a playgroup assistant in May 2001. Elizabeth has NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education.
Staff Training
Our staff attend cluster meetings for training in relation to Dept of Education requirements for playgroups.
The Playgroup's budget includes an allocation towards training and development. The following modular courses have been completed within the current staff team:
- Managing Challenging Behaviour
- Management in an Early Years Setting
- Supporting and Supervising Staff
- Working with Children who have Special Needs
- Observation and Record Keeping
- First Aid
- Child Adult Interaction
- Basic Hygiene
Staff Role
Playgroup staff are constantly engaged in:
- Careful observation
- Responding to children's comments, questions and requests
- Talking with the children, offering views and suggestions
- Planning and preparing a curriculum based on interests, abilities and needs
At all times, staff will:
- Be aware of their influence as a role model
- Value each child as a unique individual
- Hold high, but realistic expectations of all children
- Co-operate with parents and any others who may be involved in the child's development
